Fish Amino Acid Bokashi Biochar (FAABBChar)
Raised with organic methods, the tilapia of Kohala Mountain Fish Company (KMFC) serve to nourish the people of the local communities and to feed the plants and microbes of local gardens.
Dragon Heart Farm receives the remnants of KMFC’s harvest. On a weekly basis, barrels are filled with KMFC’s fish waste, brown sugar or molasses, and EM-1, a microbial supplement. Once combined, the materials in the barrels are left to ferment for several months, while the microbial superheros digest the fish bodies and the sugar.
In the fermentation process, they multiply and improve the bioavailability of the fish’s nutrients for eventual plant consumption. Eventually, the Earth Stewards at Dragon Heart Farm extract the juice created from the fermented fish, mix it with locally produced Spirulina, and sell it as GrowFAAST.
The remaining fish bodies create a composted bokashi with locally-sourced biochar from macadamia nut shells, spirulina, locally-sourced wood chips, and macadamia nut husks. This incredibly fertile product is sold as FAABBChar.
Application recommendation: Include in planting mix up to 10% or top dress sparingly
