Product Description
Meaning Behind the Name:
FAABBChar stands for Fish Amino Acid Bokashi BioChar.
FAABBChar is made from 5 main local ingredients:
- Fermented Fish Scraps
- BioChar made locally from MacNut Shells
- Locally sourced MacNut husks
- Spirulina Powder from Kona
- Wood Chips from our Farm
Why This Product is Special:
FAABBChar is another great use of local byproducts. Our fermented fish bodies are already colonized with millions of beneficial microbes, and when we introduce the wood chips and macadamia nut husks, they immediately start to break these materials down into usable nutrients plants can uptake. The BioChar gives the microbes a home and the Spirulina is an added nitrogen source that also loaded with beneficial vitamins and minerals for your plants. BioChar is a great soil amendment for Hawaii’s soil as it helps break up the clay, gives air pockets for increased oxygen, and does not break down. BioChar has been used agriculturally for many thousands of years. Bokashi is a Japanese style of composting where fermentation is used to break down the materials, and in our case the EM or Effective Microbes, used in GrowFaast transfer to the compost pile, making it very biologically active.
Happy Customers:
We have been using FAABBChar here on our farm for the last year and are very impressed with the results. It is my go-to amendment for planting in degraded areas because of its rich microbial array. I am also a big fan of the bio-char’s ability to conserve nutrients from leaching, only releasing them as the plants request. When I use FAABBChar I feel like I am making a wise investment for the longterm health of the land and those that eat from it.”
-Travis Dodson, One Village Farm
As a farmer of 12 years on Hawaii Island, I can say that FAABBChar is literally the best quality soil amendment in the state. This is artisanal grade plant food that is hand crafted to get the production results you want to see.”
